About

For over twenty years, Sun Architecture has been serving residential, commercial, and retail clients in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.  It is our objective to do whatever is necessary, wherever possible, to maintain and enhance a reputation of unsurpassed quality and unequaled integrity among builders and clients. Towards that end, the goal of Sun Architecture is to leave every client completely satisfied with both the product we design and the service that we provide.

Commitment to excellent service and professional knowledge are key to the success of Sun Architecture.  We respond to the unique qualities of each project. We listen carefully to our clients, and then translate their visions into innovative spaces shaped by light, materials, and physical setting. In this process, we draw upon our significant breadth of experience, yet each project is viewed with openness to different design solutions.

Process

A hallmark of our design process is our commitment to involving our clients in all phases and aspects of a project, from program development and design through construction. Through a series of design meetings with our clients, we review design ideas and integrate client input.  In this way, we can address client and user needs in a direct, ongoing manner and produce the most functionally efficient design possible within the project's budget.

George Sun, Architect, LEED AP

George graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic of San Luis Obispo. He has been practicing architecture for over twenty years in San Francisco. Before he founded his firm in 1998, he worked on healthcare, educational, commercial, and residential projects in the U.S. and Asia. He is an accredited professional in Leadership In Energy And Environmental Design (LEED AP).  Since 2007, he has also been an adjunct faculty in College of San Mateo’s Architecture Program.

I worked with George Sun on a ground floor remodel project at my house, where I wanted to add a bedroom/family room, bathroom, and accessory rooms. Before starting, I interviewed several architects. Most said that what I wanted would be difficult to permit; one even said it would be impossible. George said no problem, and pointed to a specific bulleting by the San Francisco Zoning Administrator. Throughout the design process, George was very responsive by email and phone, and meeting with him at his office off Geary Street was very convenient. I found George to be professional, knowledgeable, and understand right away what it was I wanted. Overall, I was very pleased with the whole experience.
— Todd G.
He approached every project with a hands on attention to details and full understanding of zone requirements for the best kitchen layouts, while considering his clients’ aesthetics, life style, budget and needs, as well as being the calm professional on the job site with a funny dry sense of humor.
